Why I recommend it: While MSFS 2024 has incredible global terrain, it often leaves iconic national parks feeling like "empty wilderness" once you land or fly low-level. Baysim’s V3 update transforms the Tetons from a static backdrop into a living, breathing ecosystem. It covers over 310,000 acres with a specific focus on the Jenny Lake area, adding the human element—hikers, boats, and park infrastructure—that the base sim lacks. It is the definitive "must-have" for bush pilots flying into Jackson Hole (KJAC) or exploring the Wyoming backcountry.
✅ Living Landmarks: V3 adds over 100 custom 3D objects, including the Jenny Lake Visitor Center, the Ranger Station, and the iconic Mormon Row barns (like the T.A. Moulton Barn). These aren't just blocks; they feature high-res textures and readable signage that make VFR navigation feel 100% authentic.
✅ Animated Environment: The park feels populated thanks to hundreds of animated visitors placed along trails, parking lots, and boat docks. You’ll see ferries crossing Jenny Lake and detailed 3D boats at the piers, replacing the flat, static water textures of the default scenery.
✅ V3 Technical Upgrades: This version is built natively for the MSFS 2024 engine, introducing enhanced water masking along the Snake River and "Beautiful Night Effects." The parking lots at major trailheads are now fully modeled with realistic ground clutter and lighting, making dusk departures from the valley floor truly atmospheric.
Performance Note: Excellent. Baysim has optimized the LODs specifically for the 2024 thin-client architecture. Even with the "hundreds of visitors" and detailed 3D models at Jenny Lake, the impact on frame rates is negligible, making it a smooth experience even when paired with heavy weather presets or complex GA aircraft like the A2A Comanche.
