Highly Recommended Payware Add-ons that greatly enhance the PG areas
Why I recommend it: Created by a Detroit native, this pack captures the soul of the "Motor City" better than any other add-on. It doesn't just fix the US side; it also overhauls Windsor, Canada, across the river. It’s perfect for cross-border VFR flights or approaches into KDTW (Detroit Metro).
Key Highlights:
✅ Animated People Mover: The famous downtown transit system is fully animated with trains running on the tracks.
✅ Stadium Lighting: Features custom light sequences on Comerica Park and Ford Field that mimic real-life events.
✅ New Bridges: Includes the new Gordie Howe International Bridge and the Ambassador Bridge with proper water cleanup below them.
Performance Note: Very smooth. The developer uses efficient modeling so you can fly heavy airliners over the city without stuttering.
Why I recommend it: While Detroit’s riverfront usually gets all the attention, Midtown is the city's cultural heart. This pack fills the massive gap between the downtown skyscrapers and the northern suburbs, replacing flat photogrammetry with crisp, handcrafted architecture. It’s a must-have if you enjoy low-level VFR flights through the "Corridor" and serves as a perfect companion to Dfflyer’s Detroit & Windsor City Pack.
Key Highlights:
✅ Cultural District: Includes high-detail models of the Detroit Institute of Arts (DIA) and the Detroit Public Library, making the area around Woodward Avenue look authentic rather than like a generic office park.
✅ Medical Hub: Features the massive hospital complexes that dominate the Midtown skyline, including the Detroit Medical Centre (DMC) and Henry Ford Hospital, providing essential visual landmarks for helicopter pilots and bush flyers.
✅ Academic Detail: Recreates the Wayne State University campus with over 70 handcrafted buildings, ensuring the transition from downtown to the New Centre area is seamless and recognizable.
Performance Note: Very smooth. By using optimized PBR textures and focusing on a specific district, it maintains a high frame rate even when paired with heavy airport add-ons like KDTW.
Why I recommend it: Jacksonville is the "River City," but the default MSFS photogrammetry often turns its iconic St. Johns River crossings into melted, solid concrete slabs. This pack replaces those eyesores with hand-modelled bridges, allowing for true "low and slow" flight and the ability to finally fly under the structures without hitting invisible walls.
✅ The "Big Seven" & More: High-fidelity recreations of every major span including the Dames Point (cable-stayed), the Hart ("Green Monster"), the Mathews (maroon steel), and the Buckman. It also fixes smaller vital links like the Ortega River Bascule, Main Street, Acosta, and Fuller Warren bridges.
✅ Handcrafted Skyline: Over 100 handcrafted buildings. This includes the high-detail Sports Complex (EverBank Stadium, VyStar Arena, and 121 Financial Ballpark) and downtown icons like the Wells Fargo Centre and Bank of America Tower.
✅ Immersive Night Lighting: The city is transformed at night with accurate architectural lighting. The Acosta Bridge features its signature blue neon glow, while the skyscrapers and stadiums use modern LED-style floodlighting rather than the generic orange bulbs of the default sim.
✅ Waterfront Clean-up: Beyond the structures, the pack includes custom marinas with modelled boats and cleaned-up shorelines, removing the jagged "water climbing the land" glitches found in the base game.
Performance Note: Very light on frames. Since it focuses on replacing specific assets rather than a total terrain overhaul, you shouldn't see a significant hit to your FPS, even on mid-range hardware.
Why I recommend it: Pittsburgh is defined by its geography (three rivers meeting), and the default sim struggles with the complex bridges there. This pack fixes 21 different bridges, replacing the glitchy default solid walls with proper open steel structures you can fly under.
Key Highlights:
✅ The Incline: The famous Duquesne Incline (funicular railway) is fully animated, climbing up and down the steep hillside.
✅ Sports Complex: High-detail models of Acrisure Stadium (Heinz Field), PNC Park, and PPG Paints Arena.
✅ Night Environment: The city skyline lighting is vibrant and accurate, making dusk arrivals into KPIT spectacular.
Performance Note: Excellent optimization, even with the high number of complex bridge structures.
Why I recommend it: Salt Lake City sits in a massive valley, and the default auto-generated buildings look very flat against the dramatic mountains. This pack adds verticality and key landmarks that make the approach into KSLC visually stunning. It pairs perfectly with the PacSim KSLC airport add-on if you have it.
Key Highlights:
✅ Temple Square: The iconic Salt Lake Temple and surrounding religious buildings are recreated in high detail.
✅ The Capitol: The massive Utah State Capitol building sits on the hill properly, acting as a perfect VFR waypoint.
✅ Skyline Fix: Replaces generic office blocks with over 75 handcrafted skyscrapers and buildings unique to SLC.
Performance Note: Lightweight. It focuses on the key landmarks rather than cluttering the whole city, ensuring high FPS.
Why I recommend it: The default photogrammetry for French Canada is notoriously hit-or-miss, often leaving the historic architecture of Quebec looking like "melted" stone. Dfflyer Direct solves this by bringing "Old World" charm back to the sim. This pack adds incredible verticality to the Saint Lawrence River skyline, making the arrival into Montreal (CYUL) or the scenic flight over Quebec City (CYQB) feel authentic and immersive.
✅ The Grand Hotels: The iconic Château Frontenac in Quebec City and the Queen Elizabeth Hotel in Montreal are recreated with stunning accuracy. These aren't just generic blocks; they are high-detail landmarks that define the character of these cities.
✅ Olympic Heritage: The Montreal Olympic Stadium (The Big O) and its famous inclined tower are perfectly modeled. It serves as a massive VFR landmark when you are maneuvering through the Montreal terminal area.
✅ Old World Architecture: Replaces over 80 generic structures with handcrafted versions of historic basilicas, government buildings, and modern skyscrapers like Place Ville Marie. The contrast between the historic stone and modern glass is finally represented correctly.
This pack is exceptionally well-optimized. By focusing on the most "visually impactful" buildings rather than every single house, Dfflyer keeps the impact on your frame rate minimal. It remains much smoother and sharper than the default "heavy" photogrammetry that often causes stutters in dense urban areas.
Why I recommend it: Milwaukee is a city defined by its relationship with Lake Michigan and its winding river system, but the default MSFS version often misses the industrial grit and modern growth of the "Cream City." This pack from Dfflyer Direct is a game-changer for Great Lakes flyers, adding over 120 handcrafted buildings and, crucially, fixing the "sunken" default bridges that usually ruin low-level VFR flight along the waterfront.
✅ Skyline Modernization: Includes brand-new construction not found in the base sim, such as the Northwestern Mutual Tower and The Couture. These soaring glass structures finally give Milwaukee its true modern silhouette.
✅ The Bridge Network: Over 20 handcrafted bridges have been added, including the iconic yellow arches of the Hoan Bridge. No more flying over flat textures on the water—these are fully modeled 3D structures that make the harbor look spectacular.
✅ Waterfront & Marinas: The pack extends beyond just buildings, adding detailed marinas, boats, and "water cleanup" that removes those messy photogrammetry artifacts from the shoreline.
✅ Emergency Ops: Includes a land-able helipad at the Ascension Columbia St. Mary's Hospital, perfect for HEMS (Helicopter Emergency Medical Services) pilots looking for a realistic destination.
Despite the high building count, the optimization is top-tier. Dfflyer uses high-quality PBR textures that look sharp up close but are light enough to maintain smooth frame rates during busy approaches into Milwaukee Mitchell Intl (KMKE). The night lighting is a particular standout—it feels warm and realistic rather than overly bright or "neon."
Important Note on Add-ons: The reviews and recommendations provided on FSPGHangar.com are independent and based on my own testing and usage. While I only recommend add-ons that I believe offer high value and quality, software performance can vary significantly based on your specific computer hardware and simulator settings.
